Monthly Subcription Box - Julep

So these monthly subscription boxes seem to be all the rage these days, right? It's hard to read 2 or 3 blogs without seeing someone post about Birchbox or something. Soooo aren't you excited that you get to read about another one?? Meh... that may be over-reaching a bit, but whatever.

I don't do style or beauty posts and I wouldn't label myself as an overtly girly girl -- I don't wear a ton of make-up, do my hair every day, wear heels, dress to impress men... it's just not really me (if that's the honest you... go for it). The one girly thing I do regularly? Paint my nails. Silly and vain and I don't care in the least. I own dozens of nail polishes in numerous colors, but mostly of the darker variety. There are a few salmons & teals in my stash, but not many. More often than not, I'm found to be wearing black, dark brown, navy, plum, gray, brown, forest green... maybe tinged with glitter (I live on the edge).

Anyway, to get back on topic (does it really matter?) the only subscription box I take part in is Julep. For $20, every month I can choose from five different boxes containing 2-3 toxin-free polishes and other goodies and have them delivered right to my door. Everyone loves to get mail that doesnt involve having to pay off a utility bill, right? You can even choose to skip a box (as I did for January) if you don't love the theme for the month. However, I did go for the New Years Mystery box and I was quite pleased with what I got: six polishes, sunscreen, glitter pot, 3 polish remover pads, and 2 packs of hand scrub. Not bad for $20, right?

I'm not sure how long I'll stick it out for (as long as our budget permits?), but for the time being, I'm happy with it and it has me branching out ever so slightly.

And really... how lovely are the bottles they come in?

Do you subscribe to any monthly boxes? If so, which ones?

  1. I had no idea Julep had a box! I love their polishes. I'll have to check this out. It would be a nice addition to my Birchbox.

  3. I just signed up about an hour before reading this post. I'd have used your referral code had I known. :( I also get Birchbox. I'm not big on make up, but I like the small samples. Seems easier than buying full size products.

  4. I've had it for a few months, I've skipped a few boxes (just didn't like the colours enough to spend money that i don't have lol) but I truly can't resist a "surprise" so I'm waiting with baited breath for my new years box to come in....

I had a year subscription to loose button, got through 4 months 2 good, 2 sucked and 2 screw ups with only of them fixed or even acknowledged.
when they switched to quarterly they offered to give the remaining of your balance back and i jumped on that real quick.

    1. My favorite thing about Julep (other than the product being awesome in general) is that you know what you're getting in every box, so there's no disappointment.

Im not big on boxes that are all about sample products, like, dont companies just give those out for free?
