Coffee Talk

1. Compile your best music mix tape!
I have such varied musical tastes that this is tough! Sometimes it's oldies, musicals, folk... I'll just go with what I've had on repeat lately.

- "I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons
- "Papa Writes to Johnny" by Charles Esten (Nashville)
- "Little Boxes" by Malvina Reynolds
- "Gloria: In Excelsis Deo" by Patti Smith
- "Grand Optimist" by City & Colour
- "Heartbeat" by Childish Gambino
- "One Day More" by the Les Miserables cast
- "Master of the House" by the Les Miserables cast

2. Biggie or 2Pac?
Umm... neither? Not really my style. Ok, maybe 2Pac because of the song "California Love".

3. Best music video ever made.

"Sunday Morning" has always held a special place in my heart.

4. Put together your best outfit of your favorite singer/band in polyvore.com

5. What music is your guilty pleasure?
Anything top 40, rap, pop, etc -- music with a good beat, but not a whole lot else.

6. Quote your favorite lyric from a song.
Also impossible to accurately answer -- it's 100% dependent on my current state of mind. For now I'll go ahead and say that this gem from "American Girl" by Tom Petty speaks to me:

Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep

or maybe this one from "A Better Son/Daughter" by Rilo Kiley:

And sometimes when you're on you're really fucking on
And your friends they sing along and they love you
But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its absence
But you'll fight and you'll make it through
You'll fake it if you have to
And you'll show up for work with a smile
And you'll be be better you'll be smarter
More grown up and a better daughter
Or son and a real good friend
And you'll be awake and you'll be alert
You'll be positive though it hurts

or maybe this one by City & Colour:

Like the sea, I'm constantly changing from calm to ill
Madness fills my heart and soul
As if the great divide could swallow me whole
