1) I tend to wear the same pieces over and over and over again
2) I've put on quite a bit of weight in the last 18 months and I'm not entirely comfortable in my body
3) These days, most of my clothing comes from one of two places: Target or Old Navy. I'm boring/cheap/lazy like that
3) The husband hates taking photos.Taking them, being in them, looking at them...
4) I'm super awkward in photos
But late last year, I bought a custom made skirt from Alex (Typical 90s Child) and it just about demanded to have its photo taken. And well, the weather was lovely today (for February in Utah) so I slapped on some makeup, washed & trimmed my bangs, teased the crap out of my hair, stumbled out of my pajamas, and forced the husband to take a handful of photos.

skirt - Louise Amabilis // cardigan, top, & shoes - target // necklace - grimmricksen
It isn't a stretch for me to say that this skirt is quite possibly the nicest piece of clothing I own. Seriously. Alex made it to fit my measurements, the exact length I requested, and from the micro dot cotton fabric I picked out. It's fully lined with an invisible zipper in the back and an adorable (but subtle) bow in the front.
I can dress it up, dress it down, wear it with flats or heels, with tights or without, with a simple black top or with bright colors... and every time I wear it out, I get compliments on it. Every.single.time.
Honestly, if I had the money, I'd commission Alex to make me one in every color under the rainbow.

She doesn't have an official shop up at the moment, but you can stop by her blog Typical 90s Child or facebook if you're interested in ordering your own skirt or checking out her awesome vintage inspired looks.
you look AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! And your hair. It looks extra awesome in these photos.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful & the skirt is amazing, too.
ReplyDeleteYou're way to sweet!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely gorgeous in it, I love the way you styled it (not to mention those awesome nails!) and I totally wanted to get those shoes in brown at Target, but they weren't there anymore when I went back for them :(
I speak only the truth :)
DeleteI had been stalking the shoes for the last six months or so and I picked them up online for $15! I had such a hard time deciding between black & brown. I may just have to see if they still have the brown ones on sale because theyre pretty amazing.
I like your honesty. And I think you look gorgeous in those photos!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't dress up either for all of the same reasons, so I hear you. But you look great! And I love the skirt. : )
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so glad you did this post! Yay! You look adorable. This skirt couldn't be any cuter. In fact, I love the whole outfit. And you should do a tutorial on your hairstyle, I love it! ;] I feel the same way as you do about outfit posts. Like, exactly the same.

I love those shoes. !!
ReplyDeleteRight?!? I originally saw them in store but couldnt decide between black & brown... and Im cheap and $30 seemed like too much at the time. Then I stalked them online for months waiting for them to drop low enough in price. When they hit my number, I quickly snatched them up. Now I want them in brown as well!
DeleteI love all your reasons and most def. your outfit! Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDeleteI agree, outfit posts are an EFFORT. Anyway, this one was totally worth it because this outfit is utter perfection. I love it!
