I'm quite smitten with my new mirror, which replaced the large white place saver that's been up since soon after moving in a year and a half ago. I'd been looking for just the right round/oval mirror to balance out all the hard lines of the living room, but wasn't having much luck within my meager price range. So you can imagine how stoked I was when I saw this fella at Target. But of course, by the time I convinced the husband that I needed to buy it, it was out of stock at our local store. So when it was finally back, I scooped it up and immediately went home and hung it up.

See how lovely and semi clean my house looks like up there? It sure is pretty, but not even close to reality!
This is what my house actually looks like most of the time:
Being a parent has definitely stretched the limits of my OCD and anxiety in general. I've had to learn to block out the near constant mess to keep from going insane -- unfortunately, this means that my house is pretty much a disaster zone. You learn very quickly to always wear shoes, watch where you walk, and look twice before you sit down. Otherwise, you're likely to end up with some lego, car, Star Wars figure, or train track jammed into your foot/rear.
I'm learning to accept that my house will never be truly clean again. Wine is very helpful in this matter.
Lol.. I can totally relate. I am constantly battling with the minions about who left what where? It's completely draining sometimes.. drink of choice= vodka. I think my house looks clean and organized for maybe, mayyybeee an hour after I've finished. So sad.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love this mirror. I've been trying to look for a mirror for my hallway as well. I almost snagged one up at the thrift and thought I didn't need it. Boo. There's one out there! I'm sure of it.
Ha, that's what it looked like around here for the first few years as well, now the boys are old enough to (somewhat) contain it to their room. I swear that the biggest mess is always from the biggest kid though (aka the husband)
ReplyDeleteIm looking forward to that day! Right now our bedrooms are in the basement & we still have a gate blocking the stairs, so 75% of his toys are in our living room.

My Pretty Mummy
I quickly gave up the idea of housing my precious books in there and the DVDs didn't last long wither. Sooo toys it is!
DeleteHello from the BlogLovin hop! I love the round mirror on your gray wall - it looks so chic! And I love that you aren't hiding your clutter! I have some clutter of my own going on right now and was just thinking about how I am going to photograph my place for a blog post without showing clutter!
