Vanity - Lovey Dove Dove
I'm not really one for following fashion "rules". I mix patterns, wear all the wrong color combos, and generally wear whatever the frak is comfortable and makes me feel good. This often translates into a lot of black, stripes, and polka dots, obviously.
This summer, that's meant full high-waisted skirts, fit and flare dresses, flats of all colors, giant costume jewelry, and my ever present cardigans (when I can suffer through the heat). It's become a bit of a uniform for me. Pretty sure this has two reasons: it's the style I find most attractive & I've put on a ton of weight over the last two years and this particular style of dress makes it a wee bit less obvious.
So yeah, a mutated 50's housewife look is what you'll often find me in. Unless, of course, I'm schlubbing it at home with the kid -- then I'm right back to black yoga pants & baggy shirts. Comfort, yo.
I dress for me -- my body and my happiness -- the husband liking it is just a nice bonus. If he doesn't like something? I don't really care *shrug* As far as my style goes, if the husband has a preference, he's never made it clear to me -- he seems to be happy if I'm happy, which is awesome.
I, on the other hand, am kind of a jerk. I've been trying to wean the husband off of his affinity for cheap walmart style shirts with skulls on them. I'm having trouble convincing him that he is indeed in his thirties and not nineteen anymore. It's a struggle.
